"Desperado" Dave Williams Sr.

"Desperado" Dave Williams Sr. (geb. 18.02.1954 in Fort Worth, Texas als David Williams) ist ein US-amerikanischer Wrestler. Sein Vater ist Ron Williams und sein Sohn Dave Williams Jr.. Er hat noch zwei weitere Söhne, Cody und Shawn, die ebenfalls Wrestler sind. Auch sein Bruder Jack Williams war Pro Wrestler.

Karriere

Williams war auf der High School ein erfolgreicher Footballer und spielte bei den Dallas Cowboys, bis eine Knieverletzung seine Karriere beendete. Von seinem Vater Ron Williams wurde er zum Wrestler ausgebildet und machte in den 70er und 80er Jahren vor allem mit seinem Bruder Jack als "Williams Brothers" in den südlichen Territorien auf sich aufmerksam. Prägend waren vor allem seine Fehden gegen Doc Watson.

Die Zeit von 1983 bis 1987 gilt allgemein als seine Stärkste, hier konnte er den GWF World Heavyweight Title gewinnen (von Don Marino) und den AAW Heavyweight Title (von Crusher Johnson). Insgesamt hielt er mit mit seinem Bruder vier mal die GWF World Tag Team Titles und konnte diese auch mehrfach auf der ganzen Welt verteidigen.

1987-1995 trat er fast ausschließlich an der Seite seines Bruders in Japan für NGPW an und wurde dort einer der beliebtesten Gaijins. Im Jahr 2000 trat er vom aktiven Wrestling zurück, am 19.05.2000 bestritt er sein Farewell-Match in Japan in der Budokan Hall und unterlag Toshihiro Akira. Vier Wochen später trat er zum letzten Mal an, in den USA, und unterlag in seiner Heimatstadt Fort Worth vor 3.500 Zuschauern gegen Hagen Wenzl.
